About This Archive
Welcome to Ziggybank — a small, fan-run corner of the internet dedicated to the life and music of David Bowie (1947–2016). The name is a nod to his most famous creation: Ziggy Stardust, the androgynous rock messiah who fell to Earth in 1972 and changed music forever.
This site collects the essentials: the records that matter most, the moments that defined him, and the words he left behind. It's a labour of love, maintained by fans, for fans. Nothing here is for sale.
Essential Albums
The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars (1972) — The blueprint. "Starman", "Suffragette City", "Rock 'n' Roll Suicide".
Aladdin Sane (1973) — Ziggy goes to America. The lightning bolt cover. "The Jean Genie", "Drive-In Saturday".
Station to Station (1976) — The Thin White Duke arrives. Ten minutes of the title track, and it's still not enough.
Low (1977) — Berlin era begins. Side one: pop fragments. Side two: the future of ambient music.
"Heroes" (1977) — Recorded a wall away from the Wall. The title track remains indestructible.
Scary Monsters (and Super Creeps) (1980) — "Ashes to Ashes" — Major Tom returns, and so does Bowie's grip on the decade ahead.
Blackstar (2016) — The parting gift, released two days before his death. A masterpiece of goodbye.
